  • In the last 9 months since January 2014, $180 mn of private equity capital has been invested in the Agri, Food & Beverages sector and over $430 mn of M&A transactions have been consummated.

  • 2014 has been a significant year so far on the following counts: One, Groupe Lactalis’ acquisition of South India based Tirumala Milk marked the first significant foreign M&A in the $50 bn Indian dairy sector. Second, Wilmar International’s acquisition of stake in Shree Renuka Sugars is also the first such substantive foreign acquisition in the Sugar Industry in India. Third, the $51 mn private equity funding of newly formed Global Beverages and Foods Pvt Ltd, founded by ex-Godrej Consumer professional, A. Mahendran.
